Meet the Founder

Hi I'm Angelene the founder of DiverseGirlz.

I’m a Mom based in Toronto,Canada and I am building diverse Girlz brick-by-brick by myself from my phone & my basement .The inspiration for this culturally inclusive collection came from a frustrating reality, when I looked at children's clothing sections, I realized store shelves were completely lacking true, joyful representation & diversity, which is completely contrary to the beautiful cultural diversity of our city of Toronto and world . As a mother, I wanted to immediately change the narrative and be a founder in the shift of the market because many big brand retailers refuse to let go of the organic styles and introduce representations of our girls,I believe all children deserve to grow up in a world where diversity isn't just an afterthought, or a trend but actively celebrated every single day in many different ways including inclusion at bedtime and within fashion.

All of us moms know Bedtime is a sacred routine prayers, reading books, the days school stories, recess ,camp stories from our kids. The affirmations to them about how proud we're of their successful day how amazing smart beautiful and kind they're it's the quietest part of the day ,but yet the loudest in their little minds where feelings are shared love is conveyed tuck in kisses and stories are read where core memories & self esteem are built I knew bedtime was a perfect space to start to address the lack of diversity through fashion for girls 2-12 by providing a line of diversity so moms could finally say hey look your Pajamas so cute and she looks just like you"or hey Mom look at my diverse Girlz Pajamas I love them because she looks jut like me mom or they look like me and my friends " I created  this collection & specific first line of inclusive characters designs so diverse girls could actually see themselves reflected in their Pajamas & fashion at bedtime. My intention is pure and very intentional : begin to tear down the roadblocks big brands have put on making diverse Girls feel represented included & worthy in the retail markets & clothing Aisles for culturally inclusive prints to be front & center on nightwear

. I've ben told diverse kids Pajamas will never sell in Canada I've been told the big brand so want to keep it how it is, None of these comments will stop me from my

Mission to empowering girls through diverse Girlz Thank you so much supporting a local, mama-owned business and joining me in making bedtime a space where every girl feels seen, empowered, belonging, represented and loved.
